Presentation
Since many years, our laboratory develops research in the field of organic chemistry. The research topics always have a connotation of synthesis although they cover a vast field from the development of reactions of the elements to the creation of an digital Encyclopaedia of organic chemistry (EnCOrE).
Study of reactions inlvolving :
Particular elements : beryllium (Be), iodine (I), lithium (Li), oxygen (O), phosphorus (P), selenium (Se), ... ;
Inorganic reagents : bromoazide (BrN3), diphosphorus tetraiodide (P2I4), phosphorus triiodide (PI3), osmium tetroxide (OsO4), disodium and dilithium diselenide (Na2Se2 et Li2Se2), disodium and dilithium selenide (Na2Se et Li2Se), sodium hydroselenide (NaHSe) ;
Organic compounds : organoselenides, organosilicium compounds, organosulfides, organotin compounds, organometallic compounds (organoberyllium and organolithium compounds), alpha-heterosubstituated organometallic compounds (alpha-thioalkyllithiums and alpha-selenoalkyllithiums ; alpha-métalloselenones, alphametallosulfones, alpha-metallonitroalkanes ; phosphorus-, selenium- and sulfur- ylides) ;
Bioorganic catalysts : antibodies, lipases, squalènestérolcyclases extracted from pig's liver of and saccharomyces cerevisiae (studies of certain stages of the steroids biosynthesis).
Original syntheses of:
Hydrocarbons : alkanes et arylalkanes, especially arylcycloalkanes (control ofrelative and absolute stereochemistry) ;
Specific organic compounds : organic halides, selenides, des beta-hydroxy-alkylsulfides, beta-hydroxy-alkysélénides, beta-hydroxy-bromoalkanes, selenoxydes, selenones, diols, epoxides, aziridines ;
Cyclopropane derivatives : arylcyclopropanes and vinylcyclopropanes with control o relative and absolute tereochemistry ;
Biologically active products : pyrethrinoids insecticides (chrysanthemic acids and dihalogenovinyl-cyclopropane carboxylic acids), antioxydants (selenomethionine), antivirals (anti-AIDS) and virucides.
Development of a digital encyclopaedia of organic chemistry (EnCOrE) implying the creation of :
Protocols and communication's tools between chemists : instant messenger, videoconferences, forums of discussion, Grid technology (Collaboration within the framework of the project E-LeGI European, Collaboration with the University of Montpellier) ;
A digitalized dictionary of chemistry in wich the terms are defined under different contexts (Collaboration with the University of Paris 7),
An original search engine based on statistical data (Collaboration with the University of Avignon) ;
Ontologies of chemistry (Collaboration with the Universities of Amsterdam, Stanford and Montpellier) ;
Original databases enabling the description of chemical experiments in a dynamic way and the management of knowledge in organic chemistry on several levels.
