Hypoxia
Hypoxia is a common situation present in several pathological situations
including tumors, ischemic events and chronic venous insufficiency. Cell and
tissue responses to oxygen deficiency include metabolic adaptation as well
as changes in gene and protein expression. Activation of specific signaling
pathways and transcription factors are responsible for these processes. Our
research is aimed to better understand these adaptative responses, how they
lead to enhanced survival and how they can be targeted for therapeutical
purposes.
