Fytofend

FytoFend S.A. was created in 2009. Professor Pierre Van Cutsem (Chairman) and Raffael Buonatesta (Chief Executive Officer) are the founders and shareholders of the company.

FytoFend S.A. is an innovative spin-off of the Plant Cell Research Unit of the University of Namur, a member of the Louvain Academy. The company was created with the support of the Walloon Region and specializes in plant protection by elicitors (natural stimulators of plant defenses).

FytoFend’s mission is the research, development and production of biological alternatives for plant protection.

FytoFend develops biological elicitors (natural stimulators of plant defenses) against a range of plant diseases among which downy mildew in vineyard (Plasmopara viticola), apple tree scab (Venturia inaequalis), early blight of tomato (Alternaria solani), grey mould of tomato (Botrytis cinerea) and late blight on potato (Phytophthora infestans).
