E.A.T.
- Eppendorf Array
Technologies (E.A.T.), formerly Advanced Array Technology (A.A.T.), was
founded in June 1999 by Professor J. Remacle from the Facultés
Universitaires Notre Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur, Belgium.
- The spin-off was the
result of research performed in the laboratory of cellular
biochemistry (URBC) and supported by grants from the Walloon
Region.
The main purpose of EAT was to promote the industrial application of
R&D results obtained on microarrays research and their use in the
detection and genomic field, focusing on the development of new
technologies for low-density microarrays.
- The research of EAT was
performed in Namur in collaboration with academic and industrial partners
such as the University of Louvain (Laboratory of Applied Molecular
Technologies, Prof. J-L Gala, Université
catholique de Louvain and the engineering firm WOW
Company (Joël Demarteau).
- The company developed
and patented several new technologies, e.g.
- Glass functionalization
based on aldehyde chemistry
- New colorimetric
detection method based on silver staining (Silverquant® system) a new platform for microarrays
(Bio-CD,
arrays on compact disc) and the Bio-CD reader transcription factor kits
