Advanced Master in International and Development Economics
From September 2007, the Economics School of Louvain (ESL) whose members are the Departments of Economics of the Universities of Namur (FUNDP) and Louvain (UCL) organizes the "Advanced Master (Master Complémentaire) in International and Development Economics". The "Master Complémentaire" is the new legal designation of all post-graduate professional master degrees in the French-speaking Community of Belgium. This programme replaces the Post-Graduate Programme (D.E.S.) in International and Development Economics which started in 1996.
Courses
Description
The objective of the programme is to train present and future actors of development in economic policy making. The programme has a three-sided approach:
- it analyses macroeconomic and trade policy issues related to the growth of an economy within the world market system;
- it deals with the institutional structures required for the effective working of a market economy in the context of specific countries;
- it analyzes the ways of reducing poverty and inequality.
Application requirements
Applicants must have obtained a 5 year university degree in economics or a 4 year university degree together with a professional experience in the economic domain.
Planning
The programme is a one-year programme of 60 credits.
The courses and seminars are given mainly in the Faculty of Namur. Once a week, classes take place at the University of Louvain-La-Neuve.
The programme is fully taught in English during the academic year 2007-2008. It will be offered in French in 2008-2009.
