Design and synthesis of novel drug candidates

First, a target (enzyme, receptor,...) involved in a pathology is selected. Then we search its 3D-structure or we establish it by molecular modeling. Based on this structure, we design novel molecules able to interact with this target. Finally, we synthesized the proposed molecules, their purity and structure being checked and confirmed by analytical chemistry. The results of the pharmacological evaluation are taken into account to design novel compounds with an improved potency and selectivity.

Pharmacological evaluation of drug candidates

The pharmacological profile of original drug candidates synthesized in our laboratory or outside is evaluated. Several in vitro and in vivo models are developped : cell culture, enzymology, haemostasis, isolated organ contractions, convulsive and atherosclerotic animal models,... The results are discussed and lead to the design and the synthesis of more potent and selective molecules.

Nanooxicology

The design of animal models of acute, sub-acute and chronic toxicity are developed by exposing the animals to nanoparticles or nanomaterials. Contamination by ingestion, inhalation or cutaneous contact are studied. Potential toxicity is evaluated by autopsy, by biopersistance measurment, by biochemical dosages and by histology.
