Both in teaching activities and researches, the Department deals with several fields of Art History and Archaeology : European Prehistory and Protohistory ; Ancient Oriental archaeology and Egyptology ; Prehellenic and Greek Arts ; Etruscan, Italic and Roman Arts ; Gallo-Roman Archaeology; Art of the Middle Ages; Art of the Modern Times; Contemporary Art.
The researches of the scholars of the Department are extremely diversified and are based on archaeological, technological, typological, iconographical and stylistic processes.
