Master of Arts in Economics
In the framework of the ‘Louvain’ Academy, the UCL (Catholic University
of Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve) and the FUNDP (University of Namur in
Namur) jointly offer a Masters programme (120 credits) in Economic
Sciences, general orientation.
Strongly centred on the international dimension, this programme offers a wide range of specialised training spread over the two sites. A shuttle could be organised between the two universities. Many possibilities for stays abroad, within and outside Europe, are offered to the students. The programme can be followed completely or partially in English.
The degree with a specialisation focus is a track preparing students for the profession of economist. The student chooses a specialisation.

Mobility and international openness
Since the courses in the common core curriculum are provided in French
and English and the degree with a research focus is provided in
English, the programme is easily accessible to foreign students.
In the first term of the second year, students who opted for a professional focus have the possibility of undertaking 30 credits of their training in the form of an internship/thesis (possibly abroad) or courses/thesis abroad, notably in the framework of exchange programmes (Erasmus or outside Erasmus).

Programme structure
Common core curriculum (40 credits)
The common core curriculum includes 4 courses (20 credits) and a thesis (20 credits).Degrees Tracks (min. 30 credits)
The degree with a research focus. This track, offered in collaboration with the KU Leuven, is provided in Louvain-la-Neuve.The degree with a specialisation focus is a track preparing students for the profession of economist. The student chooses a specialisation.

- Cycles, growth and globalisation,
- Economics, norms and institutions,
- Public economics and social policy,
- Economics of firm strategies and innovation,
- European Business ;
- Development economics,
- Economic policy,
- Financial economics.
Optional courses (20 to 50 credits)
Students can choose for the remaining credits optional courses among an offer of more than a hundred courses. Some of these courses can be grouped to get an introduction to a second specialisation. The optional courses also include language courses, courses in quantitative methods and courses complementing a specialisation.Mobility and international openness
