Applications
1. Profile
The Program is open to students with a strong interest in economic policy making in developing countries and international economic relations.
Applicants must have either:
- A university graduate degree obtained after 5 years of university education.
- A university graduate degree obtained after 4 years of university education and 2 years at least of professional experience.
Only applicants with a strong background in economics will be considered.
Admission is limited so as to ensure sufficient availability of the staff and close and numerous interactions amongst the students.
Admission decisions are not subject to appeal.
2. Documents for admission:
For C.U.D. Scholarship applicants
Note that applications should be sent directly to the C.U.D. (Brussels).
Application has to be delivered to the C.U.D. before February 13, 2012.
For more information about scholarships
For non C.U.D. Scholarship applicants
Complete application packages (see below the documents required) should be received at the latest in August for European students and in April for students who need a visa to study in Belgium. However, we strongly encourage students to contact the admission committee (pierrette.noel@fundp.ac.be) beforehand to announce their intention to apply and send their scanned application package.
A complete application package includes:
- A brief statement of your motivations to follow the program
- C.V. listing all academic and other activities in chronological order since the age of 18
- Certified copy of all university degrees
- Certified copy of the detailed transcripts of grades in university-level courses, including evaluation of the thesis and practice if any
- Proof of professional experience if any
- Two letters of recommendation
- Proof of linguistic abilities in English.
Once the admission committee has selected future students among applicants, these students still have to fulfill the administrative requirements with the "Service des inscriptions" of the FUNDP. The answers for the first two questions have to be chosen from a scroll-down menu in French (due to administrative constraints). Select first “sciences-economiques et de gestion” and then “master complementaire en economie internationale et du developpement”. Note that you should always answer “no” to the question “have you applied before”.
The non EU students without scholarship must in particular complete the "Financial Plan" supplied by the FUNDP. For information, the required financial capacity for the academic year 2011-2012 was set at 10.000 €.
3. Visas and Expenses
Visa regulations may require that some applicants offer a proof of their ability to meet their living expenses in Belgium.
Tuition fees for the academic year 2011-2012 are around 850 €. This amount is subject to change depending upon students’ nationality and status and is determined by the general regulations currently in force at the University of Namur.
